Pacific Energy wins power station contract for WA gold project

Pacific Energy (ASX:PEA) has won a contract from Saracen Mineral Holdings (ASX:SAR) to build, own and maintain a 14 megawatt gas-fuelled power station at the Thunderbox Gold Project in Western Australia.

Installation will begin on 1st September 2015 and the contract will run for an initial term of five years.

The company was previously awarded a contract from Saracen to convert and expand an existing 10MW diesel fuelled power station at Carosue Dam to an 11MW dual fuelled power station capable of achieving a gas for diesel substitution of up to 80%, as well as to increase capacity at the Red October site to 3.2MW.

In February, it was awarded a contract from AngloGold Ashanti Australia (ASX:AGG) to convert KPS’s existing 44MW Tropicana Gold Mine power station from a diesel to a gas fuelled operation.

That contract runs through to 2028.
