Optiscan Imaging multiplies on milestone payment

Optiscan (ASX:OIL) has increased 5-fold following receipt of a milestone payment of $257,953 from leading German optical and medical devices manufacturer Carl Zeiss.

The stock opened at $0.034 on November 14th, and hit an intraday high of $0.185 today. Optiscan last traded at $0.17.

The payment was in recognition of its disposable sheath development. Carl Zeiss is also the world’s leading player in neurosurgical visualisation.

The sheath will now be integrated with Optiscan’s stand-alone rigid endomicroscopy system.

This will be deployed in the field of neurosurgery providing real time, high resolution tissue imaging at a cellular level.

Optiscan’s technologies enable high-powered microscopes to be miniaturised and used inside the body without surgically removing tissue.

This enables microscopic imaging of up to 1000 times magnification to be achieved.
