Optiscan (ASX:OIL) has received a milestone payment of €180,000 (A$257,953) from leading German optical and medical devices manufacturer Carl Zeiss in recognition of its disposable sheath development.
Carl Zeiss is also the world’s leading player in neurosurgical visualisation.
The sheath will now be integrated with Optiscan’s stand-alone rigid endomicroscopy system.
This will be deployed in the field of neurosurgery providing real time, high resolution tissue imaging at a cellular level.
In September, the company a placement and convertible note issue raising $750,000.
Optiscan’s technologies enable high-powered microscopes to be miniaturised and used inside the body without surgically removing tissue.
This enables microscopic imaging of up to 1000 times magnification to be achieved.
