Meteoric Resources (ASX: MEI) has identified four microdiamonds in wide spaced loam sampling at its Webb kimberlite field in Western Australia's Gibson Desert.
The diamonds were recovered from 67 samples, with 30 of these samples containing diamond indicator minerals, outlining a
20 kilometre long, 3-5 kilometre wide anomaly coincident with numerous kimberlite targets, and open to the north-east.
An additional microdiamond was recovered from an aircore drill sample over a magnetic kimberlite target, out of the two drill samples processed to date.
Processing of a further 20 drill samples from 7 kimberlite targets in currently in progress.
First pass aircore drilling on the Webb kimberlite field discovery totalled 24 drill holes for 1657 metres over 16 kimberlite targets, and 46 line kilometres of ground magnetic surveys have also been completed.
Three of the five microdiamonds that were recovered exhibit the characteristic crystalline habits of diamonds derived from kimberlite, while the remaining two microdiamonds are fragments
The occurrence of microdiamonds and indicator minerals, coincident with more than 80 magnetic targets, the
majority of which remain untested, provides a compelling case to accelerate the pace of exploration.
A high resolution aeromagnetic survey is currently being planned, together with infill loam sampling, in order to identify and prioritise targets for future reverse circulation drill testing.
Joint venture partner GeoCrystal Ltd has earned 51% of Meteoric’s interest in the project tenements, comprising wholly-owned tenements and one tenement in which Meteoric has the right to earn or acquire a 90% interest by expenditure of $500,000 and completion of 1,000 metres of drilling.
