Mesoblast Limited’s (ASX:MSB, USOTC:MBLTY) Phase 2 trial has proven the safety and effectiveness of its Type 2 diabetes treatment.
The trial of its intravenously-delivered Mesenchymal Precursor Cells found no adverse effects from treatment and over the 12-week study period.
In addition, there was an improvement in glycemic control with a decrease in hemoglobin A1c after week 1 in patients treated with MPC.
Type 2 diabetes is associated with aberrant immune activation and inflammation of various organs, including kidney, liver and fat tissues, resulting in resistance to the effects of insulin in the fat tissues, and poor glucose control.
