WDS Limited (ASX: WDS) has won a $142.8 million contract for work on Aquila Resources (ASX: AQA) and Vale’s Eagle Downs hard coking coal mine south of Moranbah in the Bowen Basin, Queensland.
The two-year contract includes construction of two 2 kilometre long drifts which will provide access for the workforce, materials and a permanent conveyor to the Harrow Creek upper coal seam, as well as establishment of permanent services required for development of the Mine.
These drifts will be used in the future to gain access to other coal seams where Reserves have been identified.
WDS will complete the project using two of its 300 kilowatt roadheaders it has specifically engineered to meet the requirements of the Project including on-board roof-bolting and shotcrete tunnel lining capabilities.
Mobilisation is expected to commence in the first half of calendar 2014, with completion expected by the end of 2015.
