WDS Limited lands A$20m renewal for Xstrata Coal’s Tahmoor Colliery

WDS Limited’s (ASX: WDS) Mining Division has renewed its existing contract for the installation of secondary support at Xstrata Coal’s Tahmoor Colliery for a further two years, which will net the company a further $20 million in revenue.

The project involves the installation of secondary roof support in the mine’s longwall gate roads in advance of the retreating longwall production unit.

The renewed contract also includes the option to extend for a further 12 months.

WDS has been working for Xstrata Coal at Tahmoor Colliery since 2002. The project has not had a Recordable Injury for over 12 months.

Late last year, WDS announced its WDS Titeline drilling business had taken delivery of two new drilling rigs.

The rigs which are Surface-In-Seam rigs were purchased to support the expansion of WDS Titeline’s coal mine gas drainage operations.

As at 31 October 2011 WDS had work in hand of $277.4 million. In addition, the company has submitted tenders for a further $210 million in mining projects and $443 million in energy and infrastructure projects.
