Lithex Resources (ASX: LTX) has commenced drilling at its Moolyella Project within the highly prospective Pilbara Goldfield of Western Australia, targeting tin, tantalum and other rare metal bearing pegmatites.

Lithex plans to drill a total of up to 3000 metres across the hard rock pegmatite and eluvial targets at Pegmatite Gully and Eluvial Gully, located 23 kilometres east-northeast of Marble Bar.

In addition, the company has commenced an Auger sampling program across the existing tailing dumps and overburden stockpiles to better understand the metallurgical content of the material as well as the thickness and volume. Lithex will also utilise this method to evaluate unmined alluvial leads.

The tenements cover the Moolyella Tin Field where continuous mining activities were ongoing from their initial discovery in 1898 to 1986.  From 1986 limited small scale intermittent mining has been carried out on the field.

Lithex was admitted to the ASX following a successful IPO which offered 10 million shares at $0.20 to raise $2 million on May 17, 2011. The company had A$3.1 million cash at the end of the September quarter.
