Terrain Minerals (ASX: TMX) will receive funding for 50% of the cost of one drill hole at the company’s Aztec Dome nickel prospect under a government program.
The company has been accepted for the Co-funded Government Industry Drilling Program, which covers half of the direct drilling cost of a drill hole, up to a maximum of $200,000.
Terrain is drilling a diamond hole to a depth of 1000 metres to explore the similarity of the geological sequence at Aztec Dome to the Kambalda Dome nickel camp, 12 kilometres southwest.
More than 1 million tonnes of nickel metal has been recovered at Kambalda Dome since discovery in 1967. At Kambalda, massive nickel sulphide ore bodies are located on the basal contact of the ultramafics.
Diamond drilling at Aztec Dome has commenced, and will be complete in early February.
