ImpediMed Limited’s lymphoedema products to see expanded use by U.S. healthcare provider

ImpediMed Limited’s (ASX: IPD) L-Dex® U400 device for assessment of unilateral lymphoedema will enjoy wider use by Kaiser Permanente, the largest not-for-profit health maintenance organisation in the U.S.

Kaiser will initially use the L-Dex U400s at two outpatient facilities servicing a regional Kaiser Permanente hospital in the Southern California Region.

This expansion follows the initial adoption of the L-Dex technology by their Northern California Region.

Three northern California facilities, two hospitals and their Breast Cancer Survivorship Institute have been using the L-Dex U400 since 2012.

ImpediMed is currently in Phase I of its growth, targeting breast cancer. The next Phase targets lower limb and melanoma cancers, a market that could be worth $312 million.

This will then lead into its expansion into high potential geographies, which could be worth up to $1 billion.

The L-Dex® U400 device is a bioimpedance spectroscopy-based technology that aids in the clinical assessment of unilateral lymphoedema of the arm in women or the leg in women or men, allowing clinicians to take proactive steps to treat the condition.

Emerging data has shown a 97% reduction in lymphoedema progressing beyond stage 0 if detected early and treated effectively.
