Impact Minerals identifies 12 new priority targets for nickel, copper, gold at Mulga Tank project

Impact Minerals (ASX:IPT) has identified 12 new priority targets for nickel, copper and gold deposits at its Mulga Tank project in Western Australia.

The targets were identified following a review of a broad spaced ionic leach soil geochemistry survey data in a poorly explored part of the Mulga Tank project. Three of the targets remain open along strike with large areas yet to be sampled.

Six of the targets are on the west side of the project area, along strike and adjacent to Mulga Tank Dunite, where the company recently discovered significant nickel and copper mineralisation in its maiden drill programme on E39/988, where Impact has 20% and is earning 70% from Golden Cross Resources.

The drill intercepts from that programme included 114.8 metres at0.3% nickel from 98 metres including 2 metres at 1.3% nickel; and 0.75 metres at 0.85% nickel, 0.35% copper and 0.24g/t PGE.

The other six targets are on the east side of the project area and indicate significant potential for copper and gold mineralisation. There has been limited air core drilling done in some of the areas.

Impact’s Mulga Tank Project comprises 13 exploration licences covering 425 square kilometres of the Minigwal green-stone belt and surrounding area in the eastern part of the Yilgarn Craton.

The project is prospective for nickel and copper sulphide deposits similar to Perseverance at 45 million tonnes at 2% nickel and Rocky's Reward 9.6 million tonnes at 2.4% nickel mines near Leinster.

Impact is preparing a programme and budget for the next phase of work at Mulga Tank.

Of the 13 licences in the Mulga Tank project, Impact has 100% ownership of six of them and is earning varying interest from Golden Cross on the remaining 7 licences.

It has to spend a further $1.1 million before November 2017 to complete the earn-in from Golden Cross.
