Helix Resources uncovers large gold anomaly at Browns in NSW

Helix Resources (ASX:HLX) has used hydraulic soil auger sampling at its Browns Prospect in New South Wales to confirm the presence of a large gold in soil anomaly with a strike exceeding 1 kilometre long and 200 metres wide.

The Browns Prospect is a greenfield discovery on the Company’s 70% owned Muriel Tank Project approximately 60 kilometres east of Cobar.

The Muriel Tank tenement covers an historic goldfield worked by artisanal miners between 1916 and 1930 targeting high-grade gold associated with quartz veins and shears.

Rockchips to values of 33.8g/t gold have been returned from sampling of the old workings, and visible gold has been detected by Helix geologists in spoil nearby to an historic stamp battery located in the goldfield.

The Browns Prospect was defined during regional hydraulic auger soil sampling earlier this year.

Follow-up soils and field work including mapping, logging of auger chips and rock chip sampling confirmed the presence of a mineralised structure that aligns with the orientation of the gold anomalism and the two historic workings.

Rock chips from these associated workings have returned up to 15.5 g/t gold, confirming the potential for the presence of a high-grade system at this Prospect.

The target zone and anomalism correlates with a subtle magnetic high feature within a broader magnetic low, and a total of 86 of the 209 auger samples collected in this recent campaign returned assays better than 10ppb gold.

The current final phase of geochemical sampling will assist in defining priority zones for drill testing in the near future.

The combination of the coherent gold anomalism on an open strike extent of 1 kilometre, and the identification of mineralised workings hosted in altered sediments in a potential structural trap-site, further enhance this Cobar-style gold target.
