Orbital Corporation (ASX:OEC) has secured a $1.9 million order from one of the world’s largest diversified miners.
The contract for the installation and commissioning of a REMSAFE Remote Isolation System at a coal mining operation in South Africa represents the first application of the technology beyond the West Australian iron ore industry.
Its new client makes a significant addition to REMSAFE’s existing Pilbara based customer portfolio of BHP Billiton (ASX:BHP), Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) and Fortescue Metals Group (ASX:FMG).
The expansion of the REMSAFE product into new geographic markets and into new commodity applications represents significant progress in Orbital’s goal of expanding the REMSAFE business into a globally recognized mining innovation technology solution.
In June, Orbital secured a new $1.7 million order from a major Western Australian iron ore mining company for the installation of a REMSAFE Remote Isolation System at one of their Pilbara mine sites.
REMSAFE is an automated system that, on command, allows a plant operator to isolate fixed equipment from its energy sources, verify the isolation and lockout to undertake tasks that require isolation for safety purposes.
It optimises production by reducing the downtime caused by waiting for an electrical isolation to less than three minutes.
