Genesis Minerals kicks off exploration at Cerro Verde Gold-Copper Project in Chile

Genesis Minerals (ASX: GMD) has commenced exploration field work at the Cerro Verde Gold-Copper Project in northern Chile, testing the numerous gold and copper veins which remain completely open and untested.

The field work will comprise detailed rock chip sampling and structural mapping at the project where previous exploration highlighted extensive gold, copper and silver mineralisation defined at surface over a 5 kilometre by 2 kilometre area.

There is considerable potential to define significant high grade gold, copper and silver mineralisation within the extensive vein system where limited modern systematic exploration has been completed.

The company plans to commence a drilling program in the December 2011 quarter upon receiving results from this exploration program.

Genesis acquired a 100% interest in the project in September 2010 from a private Chilean company. The Project is located in the Atacama Desert in an area serviced by very good infrastructure about 750 kilometres north of Santiago.
