Frontier Resources (ASX: FNT) is having some deeper drilling success at the Andewa Project in Papua New Guinea, with 17 gold anomalous zones intersected in one diamond drill hole.
The high grade peak intercept included; 1.5 metre at 39.3g/t gold (+ 3.7g/t silver), within 3 metres at 20.41g/t gold from a 448.5 metre downhole, which is around 320 metres below surface.
Importantly - drilling achieved the objective of intersecting the Komsen structure at depth, and was designed to drill test under a broad area of gold in soil geochemistry.
The hole also successfully intersected the structure and two gold mineralised zones were defined from 279.6 metres, (with 1 metre at 2.73g/t gold, 7g/t silver, 3,980 ppm arsenic and 0.5% zinc) and from 282.4 metres (with 2 metres at 1.39g/t gold, 7.5 g/t silver, 2,680 ppm arsenic and 0.71% zinc).
The significance of these results is that they demonstrate that gold mineralisation could be continuous from surface to past 320 metres in vertical depth, along with the potential for at least 120 metres of strike.
Worth noting is that previous drilling in the Komsen structure has intersected up to 1 metre at 19g/t gold and 10.3% zinc within a 7 metre wide gold anomalous zone.
