Encounter Resources (ASX:ENR) has warmed up its Yeneena project in Western Australia
for an imminent drilling program, with new survey work outlining a promising iron
ore-copper-gold target.
A detailed ground gravity survey at the Aria prospect within Yeneena’s Lookout Rocks
area has defined a discrete density anomaly on the margin of a previously identified
magnetic anomaly.
Historic drilling in this poorly explored area has identified hematite-altered
breccias, chalcopyrite, bornite and possible traces of copper sulphide minerals but
these zones of visible mineralisation were not chemically assayed.
This is a significant geologic indicator as iron ore-copper-gold deposits with intense
hematite alteration are typically proximal to strong copper mineralisation.
Final modelling of the magnetic and gravity data is currently being completed to
facilitate diamond drilling at Aria later this month.
Exploration at Lookout Rocks is being conducted as part of a US$6 million (A$8.2
million) earn-in agreement with copper giant Antofagasta (LON:ANTO).
Yeneena is located 40 kilometres southeast of Aditya Birla Minerals’ (ASX:ABY) Nifty
copper mine and 30 kilometres southwest of Newcrest Mining’s (ASX:NCM) Telfer gold-
copper deposit.
