Encounter Resources (ASX: ENR) is set to open higher today after intersecting a 140 metre thick zone of highly oxidized, iron rich material containing elevated zinc (~1% zinc) in EPT1831, at the wholly-owned Yeneena tenements in Western Australia.
This may be a gossan representing the weathered remnants of a body of zinc sulphide mineralisation.
Three diamond drill holes have recently been completed at the BM2 prospect, with the program co-funded by the WA Government Exploration Incentive Scheme.
Results from EPT1854 are expected before the end of the year, which intersected two narrow zones of brecciated and laminated massive zinc sulphide mineralisation 200m down-dip of the gossanous zone in EPT1831.
The potential of the BM2 prospect is extensive, with zinc sulphide mineralisation remaining open along strike and at depth, with previous shallow drilling outlining anomalous zinc intersections over 2 kilometres of strike.
The Yeneena Project covers 1,900 square kilometres in the Paterson Province, and is located 40 kilometres SE of Aditya Birla Minerals’ (ASX: ABY) 2 million tonne Nifty copper mine, and 30 kilometres SW of the Newcrest Mining’s (ASX: NCM) 26 million ounce equivalent Telfer gold/copper deposit.
