Eastern Iron pilot scale testwork increases product grade of Victorian project to 58% iron

Eastern Iron’s (ASX: EFE) latest metallurgical testwork using large pilot-scale dry low intensity magnetic separation have improved the average product grade from its Nowa Nowa iron project in Victoria to 58% iron.

This compares with the 56% iron product grade realised from previous testwork using smaller laboratory scale equipment.

Average iron recovery exceeding 90% also indicates that little of the low magnetic hematite is being lost to the non-magnetic fraction.

Upgrade factors – from feed grade to product grade – have exceeded expectations and suggest that the Dry LIMS is highly effective in its application to the Nowa Nowa ore.

The metallurgical test results will now be reviewed for inclusion in the Definitive Feasibility Study.

Eastern Iron is also in the process of completing a short program of reverse circulation drilling to upgrade part of the mineral resource at Five Mile to higher confidence categories.

Nowa Nowa is located 250 kilometres east of Melbourne close to the Princes Highway and the company is investigating its potential as a high grade magnetite resource.

It has a Resource of 9.6 million tonnes grading 50% iron.
