Eastern Iron testwork shows Five Mile could provide blast furnace feed

Eastern Iron (ASX: EFE) has demonstrated improved beneficiation results on samples from its Five Mile deposit in Victoria through the use of wet low intensity magnetic separation.

At 1600 micron crush, the use of LIMS separation resulted in samples averaging 64% iron, 6.8% silicon dioxide and 0.4% sulphur with a 66% mass recovery.

The resulting product is similar to many magnetite concentrates in iron content and level of deleterious elements but does not require pelletising and can be sold as blast furnace feed.

Further optimisation work will focus on scavenging iron from the non-magnetic tail to increase total iron recovery.

Eastern Iron plans to start in the coming weeks, a reverse circulation and diamond core drilling program to infill the current resource model and investigate extensions to the current resource.

This will also provide samples for further metallurgical testwork including crushing tests and ore variability studies as well as geotechnical data for mine design.

Five Mile is part of Eastern Iron’s 100% owned Nowa Nowa project that has a current Resource of 11.55 million tonnes at 49.8% iron.
