Deep Yellow Ltd (ASX:DYL) has received successful interim results from the metallurgical testwork program currently underway on bulk samples from the company’s Tumas Project located in Namibia.
The tests have demonstrated that by using Marenica Energy Ltd’s (ASX:MEY) U-pgrade process, a high uranium recovery, low mass, high grade uranium concentrate can be produced from the Tumas resource.
The tests, which are being conducted at the CSIRO and Nagrom Laboratories in Perth, are on track to be completed by mid-year.
Importantly, gravity processing of the mid-size scrub product from the U-pgrade process produced a concentrate grade exceeding 13,000ppm U3O8.
With further processing using conventional leaching and refining technology, a final high quality uranium product can be produced.
A project incorporating the U-pgrade beneficiation process could lead to an accelerated development timeline for Tumas project, with comparatively low capital and operating costs.
DYL is operating in Namibia through its wholly owned subsidiary, Reptile Uranium Namibia Pty Ltd.
