Comet Ridge (ASX: COI) has intersected four productive coal intervals at its Mira-3 coal seam gas pilot well in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.
Wireline testing indicated good to excellent coal productivity throughout the 8.9 metres of coal over the intervals.
Production casing has been run and cemented in the Mira 3 well and the well suspended as a future pilot production well.
The well will be completed for production this month, with tubing and a pump installed downhole.
The drilling rig is currently moving 500 metres to the southwest to the Mira-4 well location and is expected to spud that well shortly.
Mira-3 is the first of eight wells for the Mahalo joint venture and the first of four pilot wells in the Mira field.
It is located about 13 kilometres southeast of the Mahalo pilot area and is about 250 kilometres west of Gladstone in central Queensland.
Comet Ridge has a 35% interest in ATP 337P Mahalo.
