Dragon Mining (ASX: DRA) has intersected a number of positive gold intervals including 24.9 metres at 4.1 grams per tonne gold, from underground diamond drilling at its Orivesi Mine in southern Finland.
This thick intercept and another of 17.7 metres at 7.19g/t represent intersections of Pipe 5, confirming grades and widths commensurate with the existing geological model.
Another hole returned 6 metres at 7.39g/t gold after intersecting Pipe 2 at approximately the 1,005m level.
While Pipe 2 had previously been interpreted to end at the 980m level, the new result indicates that this Pipe continues downwards, following the structure of Pipe 5 and bending slightly to the northeast at some point below the 980m level.
The drilling of eight holes was part of a 27 hole drilling program totalling 5,600 metres that was designed to evaluate the Kutema lode system between the 960m and 1040m levels and the previously untested 1200m level.
The Orivesi Gold Mine is located 80 kilometres to the northeast of the Vammala Plant, a 300,000 tonnes per annum crushing, milling and flotation facility that sources feed from the Orivesi and Jokisivu.
Vammala was successfully recommissioned in June 2007 and has to 31 March 2013 produced 155,726 ounces of gold in concentrate, which is smelted and refined at the Harjavalta smelter, 60 kilometres west of the plant.
