Dragon Mining intercepts further high grade gold at Orivesi

Dragon Mining (ASX:DRA) has intercepted further high grade gold anomalies following underground diamond core drilling at the Orivesi Gold mine in Finland.

Intercepts from the current drilling programme include 17.2 metres at 5.14 grams per tonne gold; 30.8 metres at 11.10 g/t and 6 metres at 37.53g/t gold, among others.

The company’s previously released intercepts included 16.35 metres at 4.13g/t gold, 8 metres at 7.14 g/t gold, 18.4 metres at 3.87 g/t gold and 22.15 metres at 18.78g/t gold.

The 16 hole, 2,900 metre infill program targeted the depth extensions of the Kutema lode system and the results have demonstrated the continuation of the Kutema lode system between the 880 metres and 960 metre levels.

Based on the success of this campaign Dragon Mining will carry out further drilling at Orivesi targeting the Kutema lode system between the 960 metre and 1040 metre levels and will include a series of deeper holes to evaluate the potential of the lode system at the previously untested 1200 metre level.

Drilling of the initial holes in the 27 hole, 5,600 metre campaign will be undertaken from the 920 metre level.

The Orivesi gold mine is part of the Vammal Production Centre, which comprises a 300,000 tonnes per annum crushing, milling and floatation facility, sourcing gold from two mines Orivesi and Jokisivu.

The centre which was recommissioned in June 2007, has until December 2013, produced 147,578 ounces of gold in concentrate, which is smelted and refined at the Harjavalta smelter.

The Orivesi gold mine is located 80 kilometres to the northeast of the Cammala plant and hosts a measured, indicated, and inferred mineral resource of 158,000 ounces grading at 6.7g/t gold.

At the end of December 2012, Dragon held $5.5 million in cash and $4.8 million in bullion in net gold concentrate receivables.
