Dragon Mining hits more high grade gold in extension drilling at Svartliden

The high grade hits keep on coming for Dragon Mining (ASX: DRA) at the Svartliden Gold Mine in Sweden.

The latest highlights include; 4 metres at 12.87g/t gold from 174 metres, 2 metres at 32.45g/t gold from 183 metres and 3 metres at 19.53g/t gold from 150 metres.

From the 36 hole drilling campaign, 10 hole results are still pending, with the aim of testing the eastern zone of the deposit between 80 and 200 metres below the surface.

The company said drilling of the eastern campaign is now complete and both diamond core rigs have commenced the 17 hole, 5,800 metre program at the western end of the deposit, targeting a panel between 200 and 400 metres below surface.

The first results from this campaign are expected in early 2011.

Peter Cordin, executive chairman, said "Dragon will continue to target the depth extensions during 2011, as we seek to further increase the mine life of the Svartliden Gold Mine.”

The Svartliden Gold Mine was brought into production in March 2005 and was the first integrated mine and treatment plant to be developed under the new Swedish Environment and Mining Acts.

Ore is processed through a conventional comminution and leach (CIL) plant, with the design capacity of 300,000 tonnes per annum, which operates continuously throughout the year.

Svartliden has produced 243,436 ounces of gold by September 2010.
