A massive gold intersection of; 20.0 metres at 34.67 g/t gold from 111 metres, has been discovered at the Dragon Mining (ASX: DRA) Orivesi Gold Mine in Finland.
Other significant hits included:
- 1.40m at 158.50 g/t gold from 142m;
- 1.65m at 21.29 g/t gold from 153m; and
- 1.20m at 12.65 g/t gold from 91m.
Included within the 20.0m at 34.67 g/t gold is:
- 6.00m at 72.52 g/t gold from 114m;
- 4.30m at 20.79 g/t gold from 122m; and
- 1.45m at 109.27 g/t gold from 128m.
Assays are still pending from 4 of the 20 hole drilling program, which was
designed to test the up-dip extensions of the Sarvisuo lode system between the surface and the 250m level.
Currently Orivesi has a 229,000 gold ounce resource, with 38,100 ounces in the measured category, with 77,800 indicated and 113,700 inferred.
Of strategic importance for the company, the Orivesi Gold Mine is located only 80 kilometres northeast of the Vammala Production Centre, which currently processes ore from Orivesi, and will soon process ore sourced from the Jokisivu Gold Mine.
The Vammala Plant is a 600,000 tonne per annum crushing, milling and flotation facility which was successfully recommissioned in June 2007 and is being operated on a 24 hour basis, 6 days on, 4 days off roster.
The environmental permit for the Vammala Production Centre is valid until 2016.
