Carnarvon Petroleum (ASX: CVN) is flowing oil at a rate of 330 barrels of oil per day along with associated water from the WBEXT-2C well onshore Thailand.
The result is a positive for Carnarvon and operator Towngas as it, along with technical work being undertaken, will determine how many wells will be drilled to further develop the Wichian Buri field.
Oil produced from the well will be sold as part of ongoing Wichian Buri Extension joint venture.
The flow comes from a 40 metre section of the WBV2 target igneous and a minor but deeper 10m intrusive igneous.
Two shallower igneous intervals encountered while drilling will be considered for testing once testing of the deeper section has concluded.
Carnarvon has a 40% interest in the Wichian Buri Extension.
