Carnarvon Petroleum (ASX: CVN) has encountered oil shows at one of the two targets intersected by its WBEXT-2C well onshore Thailand.
WBEXT-2C will be placed into production following clean up and successful testing due to its location within its Wichian Buri Extension production licence.
The well had encountered the WBV1 target igneous at around 900 metres and prognosed and encountered oil shows across the 20 metre interval.
The WBV2 target igneous was encountered at around 1,200 metres and encountered gas shows without oil.
Two shallower igneous intervals were also encountered with good indications of permeability.
Carnarvon and operator Towngas will start testing with the deepest igneous sections and is anticipated to take some weeks to complete testing of all reservoir horizons encountered.
Carnarvon has a 40% interest in the Wichian Buri Extension.
