Carnarvon Petroleum on track to grow Thai oil production

Carnarvon Petroleum’s (ASX: CVN) Thailand operations are on track to deliver the targeted output of 3,000 barrels per day (bpd) of oil by the end of the year.

Base production at the start of the current quarter was 1,400bpd of oil while the program to deliver a further 800bpd from the WBEXT Sandstone is on schedule.

This consists of the drilling of up to eight production wells and five water injection wells before year-end by new operator ECO Environmental Investments.

Carnarvon is also close to restarting production of 500bpd in the Bo Rang area with the company set to hold meetings with the Agricultural Land Reform Office before the end of this month.

Recent wellhead pressure measurements indicate pressure build up since the wells were shut-in. This supports production coming back on at or above the shut-in rates of around 500bpd.

The remaining 300bpd of oil production is expected to be delivered by the drilling of up to two volcanic wells along with previous well work overs.
