Buru Energy (ASX: BRU) has restarted oil production from its Ungani Field in the onshore Canning Basin, Western Australia, with the Ungani-2 well producing very strongly on clean-up flow following a successful workover.
The well produced up to 1,795 barrels of oil per day during a multi-rate test with small amounts of completion fluid.
Although these results are preliminary, and the water cut can be expected to increase over time, they compare very favourably with pre-workover production rates of about 500 bpd of oil with 35% water cut.
Ungani-2 has now been shut in for a pressure buildup, and the Ungani-1 well will be produced on cleanup flow over the next week.
It has also commissioned the crude export system and has transported its first 700 barrel tanker load of crude oil to storage tanks at the Wyndham Port facility.
As production is ramped up from both wells, additional trucking capacity will be brought on line with the objective of increasing production to the planned rate for this phase of the project of 1,500bpd.
Buru will also mobilise a rig to spud the Ungani-3 well shortly after Christmas.
