Boss Resources (ASX: BOE) has used trenching combined with previous drill results to confirm continuous gold mineralisation over a 4 kilometre strike length of the Ma Shear Zone at the Ma East Prospect, which is hosted within the Golden Hill Project in Burkina Faso.
Highlighting the prospectivity of the area, the project is located in one of the country's west gold provinces in the Hounde Greenstone Belt and is only 14 kilometres from Endeavour Mining Corporation's (TSE: EDV) 2.2 million ounce Vindaloo deposit.
The belt also contains Semafo’s (TSE: SMF) 6.6 million ounce Mana Gold Mine and Sarama Resources’ (CVE: SWA) MM discovery.
Infill and strike extension trenching at the Ma East Prospect delivered:
- 36 metres at 1.3g/t gold which ended in mineralisation, including 15 metres at 2.7g/t gold;
- 21 metres at 1.0g/t gold, including 9 metres at 1.7g/t gold; and
- 11 metres at 1.4g/t gold, including 6 metres at 2.1g/t gold.
Gold mineralisation is associated with sheared quartz veined altered basalt and felsic dykes hosting grades up to 6g/t gold in rock chip samples from recent sampling.
Boss Resources has an extensive footprint in Burkina Faso, with three wholly-owned gold projects covering 1730 square kilometres of Birimian Greenstone Belts.
The company had over $2 million in cash at the end of March 2013.
