Black Rock Mining (ASX:BKT) will stay focused on its core Mahenge graphite project and has not exercised an option to acquire the Bagamoyo prospects in Tanzania.
In December, a drill programme tested the central zone of the Bagamoyo project area and it did not return significant intervals of graphite mineralisation.
The 100% owned Mahenge project has returned some outstanding exploration results to date with Ulanzi emerging as the lead prospect after the discovery of significant intervals of graphitic gneiss including a 123 metre graphitic zone.
Drilling at Ulanzi has delivered 73 metres at 10.2% total graphitic carbon (including 20 metres at 14.58% TGC) and 72 metres at 9.43% TGC (including 18 metres at 13.18% TGC).
Many holes in the area have contained significantly higher grade intervals of 12% to 17% TGC.
Meanwhile a Scoping Study has commenced at its core Mahenge graphite prospects in Tanzania as recent drilling and ongoing metallurgical work are expected to lead to a maiden graphite resource next month.
The study is expected to take only 4-6 weeks to complete and is intended to be a precursor to a full Pre-Feasibility Study should the results indicate positive economics.
