Beacon Minerals starts geochemical, access assessment work at its Barlee Gold Project

Beacon Minerals (ASX:BCN) has started field work at its Barlee Gold Project in Western Australia aimed at aimed at preliminary geochemical and access assessment for its proposed exploration program.

The company’s ability to continue exploration at the project was improved after it sold Mining Lease ML 77/1254 at Barlee to Ramelius Resources for A$4 million earlier this month, increasing its cash reserves to about A$5 million.

The field work is focused on Target 1 on the southern end of Lake Barlee and Target 3 covering the banded iron/ultramafic sequence forming the eastern edge of the greenstone belt.

Target 1 is located in a geological setting similar to the Paddy’s Flat Gold Camp in Meekatharra, which has historical production of 2.3 million ounces of gold.

Target 3 on the other may contain extensions of soil geochemical anomalies on the Halleys, which are open to the east. It has not been the target of previous soil geochemistry programs.

Beacon also plans to carry out a soil geochemical program targeting base metals over the southern portions of tenements E77/1297 and E1713.

This unit contains the northern extension of the rock sequence identified by Southern Cross Goldfields (ASX:SXG) as hosting base metal mineralisation at their Copper Bore Project.

The Copper Bore Project has more than 20 kilometres of strike prospective for copper-zinc-gold-silver massive sulphide.
