Beacon Minerals (ASX: BCN) has commenced an extensive exploration program on the Barlee Gold Project in Western Australia, following up targets identified from previous drilling and the recently completed aeromagnetic survey.
Beacon is continuing with the aim of increasing the current JORC inferred resource of 74,000 ounces at 6 g/t gold through reverse circulation (RC) drilling of identified regional mineralised zones.
The program will include about 5,100 metres of RC and 8,500 metres of rotary air blast (RAB) drilling.
RC drilling of about 44 holes for 5,130 metres are planned down to a maximum vertical depth of 120 metres and proposed on the areas Halleys East, Phil North, Eastside, Russell North, Lost Bolt, Squid, Halleys NE and Prince Trend.
RAB drilling has been planned as infill at a number of existing targets (7,500 metres) as well as 1,000 metres for targets arising from the current aeromagmetic interpretation and soil sampling on new prospects.
In addition, about 800 soil samples are also planned.
On November 22 Beacon entered an option agreement to purchase tenements adjacent to its Barlee Gold Project that increased the landholding in the area by approximately 100 square kilometres and provided substantial upside exploration potential for the company.
