Bassari Resources (ASX: BSR) has commenced combined reverse circulation and diamond drilling at its highly prospective Konkouto gold prospect in Senegal, West Africa.

Recent rotary air blast drilling results along with previous trench and soil geochemistry make this one of Bassari's highest priority prospects to advance.

The company is planning 20 holes for 2,000 metres targeting a substantial north north-west trending mineralised and easterly dipping shear zone on the Moura Permit where seven high quality targets have been identified.

In September Bassari reported gold intersected over a wide interval at Konkouto. Drilling which has now commenced is targeted at following up these results to determine potential for a significant mineralised system.

The significant new wide rotary air blast drilling results included: 20 metres at 1.7 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, including 4 metres at 3.8g/t gold); and 5 metres at 1.5g/t gold.

Numerous artisanal workings with pits down to 12 metres are centred on the 700 metres by 100 metres Konkouto Hill, where there is potential for a significant mineralised system.

Konkouto is one of 13 gold prospects identified along 80 kilometres strike within the Birimian Gold Belt in Senegal, where it is surrounded by multi-million ounce gold deposits in the 50 million ounce Kenieba Inlier region.

Konkouto is located 35 kilometres north east of Bassari’s most advanced gold discovery, the Makabingui Project, which has a 240,000 ounce maiden gold resource.

The company has no debt and cash at the end of the September quarter was A$3.56 million.
