Austin Engineering (ASX: ANG) has completed the acquisition of V&V in Calama, Chile, increasing Austin’s exposure to repair and maintenance operations in the mining region.
V&V specialises in the repair of mining products and the hire of site-based equipment to major miners. The move allows Austin to offer a one-stop service to major miners in northern Chile.
Significantly, Calama is the hub city for the supply of engineering services, home to the majority of miners in the area.
V&V’s operations are located about 400 kilometres inland from Austin’s La Negra workshop in Antofagasta.
The existing management at V&V will stay on for a three month period, following which the operation will come under the control of Austin’s Antofagasta-based management team.
