Aura Energy (ASX: AEE) has confirmed that material from its Reguibat uranium project in Mauritania can be significantly upgraded seven fold to a grade of 2,476ppm U3O8 through a simple beneficiation process.
This indicates that the Reguibat Project would require only modest-sized leaching facilities, lowering both capital and operating costs.
Beneficiation tests had demonstrated that by reducing the screening size, 89% of the mass could be rejected, while retaining 86% of the uranium.
This resulted in an average concentration of 2,476ppm U3O8, representing an upgrade factor of 7 from the resource grade of 334ppm.
It is also unique amongst calcrete uranium projects in that the beneficiation and leaching characteristics identified to date have indicated that it shows excellent beneficiation and fast leach times.
Leach tests had previously achieved 94% extraction within just four hours.
The company is evaluating the commercial implications of these results.
