Argent Minerals (ASX:ARD) has received $1 million from the Australian Federal Government as part of its Research & Development Tax Incentive scheme.
The claim related to development work done to bring the Kempfield silver project, near Bathurst in New South Wales into production, first stage is a proposed open cut mine.
This involves heap leaching some 8.8 million tonnes of mainly oxide and transitional material to produce over 9.5 million ounces of silver and 15,000 ounces of gold over a 5 year mine life.
Kempfield had a 52 million ounce silver resource at around 75 grams per tonne and include 86,000 ounces of gold.
An Environmental Impact Statement was submitted for the project, which is known to have significant support from the NSW government to try to fast track approvals.
