AtCor Medical Holdings secures US$1.1m supply contract

AtCor Medical Holdings (ASX: ACG) has inked a contract to supply its new SphygmoCor XCEL systems and clinical trial support services to a major international pharmaceutical company.

SphygmoCor XCEL measures brachial and central aortic blood pressure simultaneously and was launched by AtCor Medical in May 2012.

It visibly identifies the effects of reflected blood pressure in the central aortic pressure wave, effects which cannot be detected with standard blood pressure monitoring, according to AtCor.

More than 2,700 SphygmoCor® systems are currently in use worldwide at major medical institutions, research institutions and in various clinical trials with leading pharmaceutical companies.

FDA clearance

Last month AtCor filed an application with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for 510k marketing clearance for the new SphygmoCor XCEL.

FDA clearance, which permits the device to be marketed in the U.S., is expected by the end of the year.

Currently the XCEL is available for sale in Europe, Australia, and four Asian markets including India.

AtCor plans to file applications for approval to sell into other markets during the current financial year.
