Proxama receives Google certification

The proximity marketing specialist is the first company in Europe to be certified by Google as a Google location services provider

Proximity marketing and digital payments firm Proxama PLC (LON:PROX) has become only the second company in the world to be certified by Google as a Google location services provider.

Proxama was awarded the accreditation after graduating from the tech giant’s beacon certification programme.

Google’s engineers verified that the London-listed company’s location and services software are compatible with its new beacon platform, Eddystone.

"To be one of only two companies to be certified by Google is a huge achievement and one we expect will be critical in encouraging more brands to work with us,” said chief executive John Kennedy.

Proxama said that being Google-certified endorses the company to provide its beacon services to existing and new customers of the Silicon Valley tech firm.

Proxama’s beacon technology allows firms to push content straight to consumers as they enter a nearby proximity hotspot.

Research has shown that revenue from beacon-triggered content may reach as much as US$44bln by 2020.

Shares closed on Thursday at 0.525p.
