Rubianna Resources (ASX: RRE) is on track to begin an infill geochemical program at the North Ruby Well Project within its Murchison tenements, to define gold and copper targets that justify follow up.
The company has identified four target areas to test gold and copper anomalism in the volcanic units of the Narracoota Formation.
Drilling will be carried out within broad geochemically anomalous zones of coincident gold of up to 0.59 grams per tonne (g/t) and up to 0.06% copper.
Rubianna aims to define targets for further geophysics and geochemistry work that will allow the company to plan specific drill targets.
The geochemical program will include the 3.5 kilometre long coincident gold and copper anomalism identified by a previous interface sampling program.
With cover typically 20-30 metres thick, rotary air blast or air core drilling will be necessary to reach and sample the cover/bedrock interface.
A 1997 drilling program at North Ruby Well, located within the Peak Hill Mining District of Western Australia, identified an in situ laterite horizon with grades up to 2.7 grams per tonne gold.
It was not routine to assay all samples for copper, with those that were assayed returning values of up to 0.02% copper.
