Walkabout Resources (ASX:WKT) has delineated a poly-metallic mineralised shear zone at its 75%-owned Kigoma project area in Tanzania.
The first two drillholes over the structure successfully intersected three quartz vein systems with values to 3.1% copper over 1 metre and 11.5 grams per tonne gold with 57 grams per tonne silver over 2 metres, analysed via XRF.
Mineralised quartz vein stockworks up to 7 metres containing visible sulphides and copper oxides were intersected during drilling.
The shear zone with elevated copper, gold, silver, lead, and zinc covers over 700 metres along surface and appears to host a parallel quartz vein stockwork, believed to be the first evidence of hydrothermal activity in the area.
Follow-up mapping and rock chip sampling have confirmed the existence of polymetallic mineralisation over this distance at surface with results up to 29.9% copper, 132.5 grams per tonne gold, 2.3% zinc and 1.5% lead.
Drilling is ongoing with assay results awaited from a laboratory in South Africa.
