Walkabout Resources (ASX: WKT) has discovered up to 25% copper in oxide from rock-chip samples at the Kigoma project in western Tanzania.
Walkabout has also outlined six new drill targets identified within the oxide project area, with the company's understanding of the geology evolving with the new drill data.
In total 23 holes over 1400 metres of a 4000 metre reconnaissance reverse circulation program have now been completed at Kigoma, as the company tests a highly prospective area between known copper workings.
A plus for Walkabout in Tanzania is the lower cost of drilling compared to western countries, allowing more metres to be drilled for the same cost as programs by other companies in other geographical locations.
Within Tanzania the company is exploring for coal, copper and platinum group elements at three different sites.
Adding depth to Walkabout's African exposure is that the company recently announced a 6.9 billion tonne thermal coal Inferred Resource and 748 million tonne Indicated Resource at Takatokwane in south-west Botswana.
