Murchison United announced encouraging results from its exploration program on the Bir En Nar uranium prospect in the Republic of Mauritania in West Africa.
Downhole radiometric logging received for the first 8 holes of a 4,000 metre, 41 reverse circulation drilling program, returned high grade uranium readings in seven of the eight holes. Four holes contained intercepts over 5,000 parts per million U308, including 2.35 metres @ 11,250ppm U308. Anomalous radioactivity was also observed in 35 of the holes, with the best sample returning 30,000 c/s.
Murchison United is also planning a 5,000 metre drilling program at its Firawa prospect in Guinea, West Africa in September to define a JORC compliant resource.
Mark Reilly, Murchison United's MD, said:
"The exciting results attained so far at Bir En Nar in Mauritania follow on from the successful drilling program undertaken last year at Firawa, Guinea, and the recently completed A$7.4 million share placement. We are eagerly awaiting the remaining logging and assay results from Bir En Nar and we look forward to embarking on further drilling programmes this year at the Bohoduo and Firawa Prospects in Guinea."
