Tungsten Mining (ASX:TGN) has carved an initial tungsten resource from two zones of the Kilba Project within the Gascoyne Region of Western Australia.
The maiden tungsten JORC Resource estimate of 1.3 milliton tonnes at 0.57% WO3, is located within a much larger resource of 5.0 million tonnes at 0.27% WO3 from Zone 8 and Zone 11 of the Kilba Project.
There are lofty ambitions from Paul Berndt, managing director of Tungsten Mining to move Kilba into development in 2014. A Pre-feasibility Study has commenced.
Tungsten Mining’s activities have focused on Zone 11 where previous drilling by Union Carbide Corporation intersected high-grade tungsten mineralisation in the 1970s/1980s.
Union Carbide drilled diamond holes targeting high-grade tungsten mineralisation at Zone 8, a number of these holes have been used to estimate the Inferred Resource of 230,000 tonnes at 0.56% WO3.
Drilling during the March quarter saw strong intercepts including 14.5 metres at 0.80% WO3 from 42.5 metres and 7.4 metres at 1.06% WO3 from 82.8 metres.
