Talga Gold (ASX: TLG) has received the final 1 metre assays from a drilling program at the Talga Talga gold project in Western Australia’s Pilbara region, with a best intercept of 1 metre at 35 grams per tonne (g/t) gold.
The 35 hole, 2,623 metre reverse circulation drilling program was designed to explore for a larger zone of gold mineralisation extending along strike and down dip from historic workings and previous drilling.
The best results from the latest round of 1 metre assays included:
- 1 metre at 35g/t gold from 56 metres; and
- 1 metre at 18.5g/t gold from 24 metres.
Results from the latest drilling indicate that gold mineralisation at Talga Talga extends over a further 100 metres strike from where the company intersected high grades in 2010.
Previous results included:
- 7 metres at 14.4 grams/tonne gold from 54m depth, including 1m at 73.5 g/t gold; and
- 3m at 24.8 g/t gold from 32m depth including 1m at 66.9 g/t gold.
In addition, significant intercepts in three holes occurred at a higher stratigraphic position than the main target vein, which could represent a new parallel gold target at the McPhees prospect.
Preliminary metallurgical studies on the drill samples will be carried out to better understand the nature and grade of the gold mineralised zones defined to date.
