Talga Gold intercepts 4 metres at 40 grams per tonne gold in the Pilbara

Talga Gold (ASX:TLG) has completed the 35 hole reverse circulation drill program at the Talga Talga gold project in Western Australia’s Pilbara region, with a best intercept of 4 metres at 30 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 56 metres.

The 2,626 metre drill program was conducted predominantly at the McPhees prospect to test along strike and down dip from the limits of previous reverse circulation drilling. It covered 650 metres strike and went to a maximum down-dip depth of 250 metres.

Additional reconnaissance holes were completed 1400 metres northeast along strike in the Quartzite prospect area.

Composite 4 metre results have been received. Other results from the drill program include 4 metres at 1.37g/t gold from 20 metres and 4 metres at 1.19g/t gold from 52 metres.

The major intersection of 4 metres at 30g/t gold is located 100 metres along strike from a previous high grade intercept of 1 metre at 73.5g/t gold, however, the company said previous work suggested the gold lodes of the McPhee area were less than 4 metres wide, albeit at higher gold grades.

Assaying of the 1 metre drill samples is in progress.

The Talga Talga project comprises a 5 kilometre zone of historical gold mines and workings. In 2010 Talga Gold conducted the first drill testing of the project for gold, discovering significant mineralisation including 1m at 66.9g/t gold from 32 metres depth.
