Talga Gold drilling follows up high grade gold discovery at Talga Talga

Talga Gold (ASX: TLG) has commenced the first round of diamond drilling exploration at the McPhees prospect within its 100% owned Talga Talga gold project.

The aim of the drilling at the project east of Port Hedland in the Pilbara region of Western Australia is to provide detailed geological and metallurgical information of the gold mineralisation discovered by the company in 2010.

Shallow plunging fold-hosted high grade shoots may occur along the shallow dipping fault-hosted main vein system.

About eight diamond drill holes will be completed over a 300 metre strike at the McPhees targets to depths of between 40 and 115 metres.

Several drill holes will also ‘twin’ previous reverse circulation (RC) holes to better understand the nature and controls of the highest grade gold mineralisation encountered at Talga Talga.

These results included:

- 7 metres at 14.4 grams/tonne gold from 54m depth, including 1m at 73.5 g/t gold; and

- 3m at 24.8 g/t gold from 32m depth including 1m at 66.9 g/t gold.

The geotechnical and assay data will provide valuable information towards further drilling programs at McPhees and other targets throughout the five kilometre strike gold project. Results are expected in mid May.

The company is planning for the nearby Warrawoona gold project, which together with the Mosquito Creek project forms the company's Pilbara focus.

Talga Gold listed on the ASX in July 2010 after an over-subscribed IPO.
