Strickland Resources’ (ASX: STK) initial drilling at the Curral de Pedra Project in Brazil has intersected a broader than expected alteration zone of about 120 metres, highlighting the potential for extensions to existing high grade mineralisation.
The drilling at the Cascavel target also intersected two thick 10 metre wide zones of sulphide mineralisation bout 100 metres downdip from the mineralised zone.
The Cascavel target remains open down dip and along strike with initial assays from the ongoing 6,000 metre drilling expected within weeks.
Current drilling is designed to identify extensions along strike and downdip while the next 6,000 metre program in 2013 will form part of broader exploration program to identify and test additional targets on the 23 square kilometre of tenements held by Strickland.
Strickland will today seek shareholder approval to change its name to Orinoco Gold Limited (ASX: OGX), reflecting its acquisition of unlisted Orinoco Resources that holds 70% of Curral de Pedra and its repositioning as a Brazilian focused gold explorer and developer.
The Curral de Pedra Project is located near Troy Resources (ASX: TRY) Sertão gold mine in central Brazil
Curral de Pedra is an advanced, drill‐ready gold project with numerous historic
