Gold for December delivery rose 0.7% to close at US$1,282.30 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange - for the highest settlement price since October 10.
In the spot market the yellow metal has edged higher, and last traded at US$1283 an ounce.
Gold producers to watch on the Australian Stock Exchange today include Silver Lake Resources (ASX:SLR), Millennium Minerals (ASX:MOY), Medusa Mining (ASX:MML) and Newcrest Mining (ASX:NCM).
December silver tacked on 0.8% to US$21.37 an ounce.
In other metals, December high-grade copper closed little changed at US$3.31 a pound but January platinum rose 1.1% to US$1,398.20 an ounce and December palladium edged up 1% to US$713.55 an ounce.
