Senex Energy (ASX: SXY) has drilled the successful Snatcher-6 appraisal well at its Snatcher oil field in the Cooper Basin, the second of two wells it is drilling on the field in the current financial year.
Snatcher-6 was drilled as a deviated well to intersect the mid-Birkhead Formation reservoir 166 metres to the north-east of its surface location.
Wireline logs confirmed the well had intersected a 10.5 metre gross oil column in the in the Birkhead Formation over the interval 1,774.8 to 1,785.8 metres with interpreted net oil pay of 5.2 metres.
The well has been cased and suspended.
Production from the severely flood-affected Snatcher field in PEL 111 was re-established on 3 May after innovative engineering solutions were used to reclaim existing Snatcher wells.
Since then two other appraisal wells have been successfully drilled on the field.
Senex holds a 60% operating interest in PEL 111 while Beach Energy (ASX: BPT) holds the remaining 40%.
